Introduction The Skydome HDRI-brand showcases a collection of high-dynamic range images, capturing only the sky-portion of an outdoor setting. Typically, selected qualities under this brand feature cloudy and detailed skies, with natural exterior lighting conditions and no artificial sources. Description Northern lights illuminate a sun that rises beneath the horizon. Only the top half of the HDRI-sphere is captured, so when using VrayLight with Dome-setting enabled, ensure "Spherical: full-dome" remains unchecked. Resolution The massive resolution of 12344×3246 allows for direct rendering of the sky from the viewport with considerable detail, even in wide renders up to 8000 pixels. Backplates Supplied JPEG-versions of the panorama are included, along with OpenEXR and Radiance HDR-files. Both HDR-files are provided as Skydome-versions (only top half of the panorama) and full 360/180 panoramic versions. JPEG-backplates JPEG-backplates are provided in both Skydome versions and full panoramic views, with no noise reduction applied and processed backplates for minimal noise. Exposure Three-step 2-EV settings were used via the Magic Lantern HDR-Bracketing Feature to capture the images. HDR-rig A DIY no-parallax rig was mounted on top of a basic tripod to achieve precise camera movement. Camera The Canon EOS 60D captured these stunning images. Lens A Samyang f3.5/8mm fisheye lens with an impressive 180-degree horizontal field of view was used to capture the full scope of the scene. Usage HDR-images are used in a variety of 3D-formats to produce physically accurate lighting, recreating the conditions present in the scene from which the panorama was shot. They can be used for various purposes, such as achieving lifelike light conditions in architectural renders or bringing life into ordinary 3D-scenes.
