Skydome HDRI - Midnight Sun
3docean
The Skydome HDRI brand presents a comprehensive collection of high-dynamic range images that exclusively capture the sky portion of an outdoor setting. Typically, these images showcase detailed and cloudy skies under natural exterior lighting conditions without any artificial sources. Midnight sun and clouds are captured in remarkable detail for image-based lighting purposes. However, when using the VrayLight with Dome-setting enabled, users should ensure the "Spherical: full-dome" checkbox is unchecked to prevent unwanted effects. The massive resolution of 12579×3032 allows the sky to be rendered directly from the viewport with considerable detail, as demonstrated by successful renders up to 8000 pixel wide. Processed backplates with an 18 megapixel resolution are included for enhanced compositing flexibility. These backplates have undergone distortion correction using images captured with the 8mm Samyang fisheye lens. HDR images were shot using a 7-step 2-EV setting via the Magic Lantern HDR-Bracketing Feature, ensuring optimal exposure control. A DIY no-parallax rig was constructed on top of a basic tripod to capture the images. The camera used is the Canon EOS 60D, paired with the Samyang f3.5/8mm fisheye lens that offers an impressive 180 degrees of horizontal field of view. These HDR images are utilized in various 3D formats to produce physically accurate lighting conditions. They can be used for a range of purposes, including recreating real-world lighting conditions in architectural renders or infusing life into 3D scenes.
