Sky Pipe - a Pegboard Filament Organization System

Here is a system I developed to float a large number of filament rolls over my printers for easy swapping and management of materials. I created this system because while I like the idea of mounting my filament rolls on my pegboard, existing fully 3D printable brackets require using a ton of peg holes to have a strong enough hold. Even then, plastic pegs struggle to bear that much weight. By utilizing standard hardware, you can get great weight-bearing strength and only take up a space of 1x3 peg holes. Let's be honest; while you could just go buy metal brackets off the shelf, this is a great excuse to make something for our workshop. Specs: The bracket arms hold a 3/4" PVC pipe far enough from the pegboard for all standard filament rolls to clear with some space to spare. The pipe clamps act as filament spacers and keep filament rolls from shifting side-to-side as you unspool filament into your printer. They slide on and off easily as you squeeze the outer ring and tighten down around the pipe when released. Finally, the routing rings can be used to route filament straight down from the rolls to avoid unraveling over the side as your printer draws filament. Required Materials: Standard 5/8" pegboard J-style hooks (Heavy-duty hooks meant for 1/4" pegboard work best; reference below) Instructions: Print the arm brackets with supports only at the rear of the slot. If you put supports any deeper, it will be nearly impossible to remove - trust your printer to bridge. Insert a hook into the back of the slot and slide it all the way up as snugly as possible. Insert and press/tap in the locking pin to keep the hook from rotating once it's on the pegboard Recommendations: For every 6 kg rolls or so, add another arm bracket. For example, for 6 rolls you would need 2 brackets, and for 12 rolls you would need 3 brackets. I bought my peg board hooks at Menards. Print Settings: Printer Brand: FlashForge Printer: Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.25mm Infill: 20% Notes: For the arm brackets, only generate support along the flat edge of the opening - do not generate support all the way through where the hook inserts or you will have a nightmare getting it out.
