Skullface from Slayaway Camp
thingiverse
I wasn't planning anything for Halloween, but then I saw Slayaway Camp on Steam and just had to make a Skullface mask. The current version is still a work in progress, so I'm only sharing a photo of one of the more complete prototypes from my test fitting. Print Settings Printer Brand: Type A Machines Printer: 2014 Series 1 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20% Notes: Supports are recommended for the strap slots in the sides, as a big gap will need cleaning. Try angling the print so supports in the strap slot make many small segments instead of one or two long pieces. Post-Printing Adding Straps Get either 1 inch wide elastic and double it up, or 2 inch wide elastic. I included holes to stitch the straps to the model, but super glue will work just fine too. Make sure the straps are short enough so the mask just touches your nose or nothing digs into your face. This minimizes the amount of cushioning needed to stay in place. Customizing Fit I included some oblong inserts that can be glued to foam or material to adjust the fit of the mask to your face. Use what you need to feel comfortable and see clearly. Lens Inserts The lens inserts I'm printing out of red glass, but anything will do. They're sized for me, so if you need to make your own, the dimensions are 60x40mm. You can model your own or cut some from fabric, plastic, etc. If you decide to do something else, I'd love to see it. I made a notch in the corner as a key but went through many design revisions and left it there due to lack of changing everything and wanting to move forward with the one-day-design costume. How I Designed This Reference Images I played the game and looked at some of the media on the bluewizard page to get the design down. Building and Testing I used Fusion 360 to design the parts and measured my face initially. After getting the basic design, I made thin prints to test fits and form.
