Skull Tower
thingiverse
Every citadel demands a spire of bones. I've been tinkering with piecing something like this together using diverse skulls from Thingiverse, but manifold/face collisions and polygon counts always seemed to overwhelm various programs I used, proving unmanageable; eventually, I stumbled upon an agreeable mix of skulls that work harmoniously after minor modifications. Although some quirky bits of geometry remain, they print reliably in about 35 minutes; certainly, there's room for optimization; notably, I've found different programs output STL model sizes differently and none align perfectly in terms of efficiency/optimization. This piece draws loose inspiration from a vintage Ral Partha tower of metal skulls miniature I possess and texts about the Catacombs of Paris I've been poring through; it was crafted with use in a Warhammer Quest terrain setting and Library of Whispers scenario in mind. Two models, differing in height and size, are included. If I craft an accompanying circular base or cap, I'll update the files. The tallest scale height stands at 50mm with a roughly 30mm base; both sizes can be easily scaled as desired, or you might prefer to print the smaller model which includes a few more skulls. Split files are provided, allowing for two-part printing without necessitating supports; however, users have reported an issue on one side of the second file I uploaded. Note: Following my update for skulltower-_square_02_right_fixed, where I addressed floating polygons affecting the flat print on the right-hand model, this ensures improved reliability.
