Skull Token + damaged side (29mm)
thingiverse
I really like numbered tokens because it solves two problems: 1- Enemies and monsters move around so keeping track of them, their HP and abilities can be difficult especially in crowded fights. 2- While I truly like that there are so many different and really amazing monster miniatures, I always found it difficult to carry them around and pennies and available pocket change were usually used for encounters with common/regular enemies. One modification that I did was to have the tokens display a damaged and an undamaged side. Basically when a enemy is below 50% HP (or whatever number you feel appropriate), you flip the token to the other side. It helps the players to know if their attacks are effective or not, and give them a rough idea if they (or some NPCs) are winning or losing the fight without revealing the exact HP of each enemy.
