SKULL

SKULL

This is a model I created from a high-resolution CT scan of an actual human skull embedded in a block of resin. Two versions are available: a highly detailed version that may be too data-intensive for your computer, or a lower-res version containing 50,000 polygons. After obtaining clearance at work, I used a GE CT scanner to acquire a very detailed CT dataset of the skull. I then employed Invesalius to extract and construct the initial 3D model from this data. However, the original model contained too many polygons for practical use, so I utilized Meshlab to create a new version with 50,000 polygons that prints smoothly. I have successfully printed numerous skull models in ABS and one in PETG using this method. The skull was printed on a raft with supports everywhere, utilizing CURA as my slicer software. The slicer may alert you to holes in the model due to its hollow nature, but you can simply ignore these warnings and it should print without issue. This skull model also looks impressive when sprayed with gold paint.
