sketchfab
A weathered headstone in the Boxgrove churchyard, West Sussex, proudly displays a memento mori symbol featuring an unmistakable skull, accompanied by a solitary crossbone and a shovel intersecting with a trumpet. The inscription is faded and challenging to decipher, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact date of this gravestone, however, its resemblance to others in the cemetery suggests that it likely hails from the 18th century. Captured on camera in May 2017, these photographs provide a glimpse into the rich history of this ancient churchyard.
