SKR Mini E3 Electronics Case (Teaching Tech Remix)

thingiverse

This is a remix for the right side of TeachingTech's rear electronics case designed specifically for the Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro. It perfectly fits the stock Melzi board or the BigTreeTech SKR Mini E3, making it an ideal solution for users who want to improve airflow. The design goal was to address the issue of poor airflow that affects people using the SKR Mini E3 or those with the Melzi board and no TL smoothers. This remix is meant to be used in conjunction with the stock lid and the left side of the case from TeachingTech, or any of its excellent variations. I have provided two versions: one with support for a cable chain and another without. For the version that includes a cable chain, please print the cover as well. The cover will snap into place with some force due to its tight fit. Holes are designed in the chain attachment if you prefer to use zip ties to secure the wire in place. I used 16 cable chain links between the case and the bed. In my opinion, placing the cable chain connector at the bottom of the case creates a more natural curve for the chain, but it's a more permanent installation than simply lifting the wire from the top of the case. Even with the bed pushed all the way to the rear, there is still ample room to remove the lid if you need access to the electronics. The parts are oriented correctly and can be printed without supports. Installation Tips: * The Z endstop wire is very short; I recommend swapping it with the longer Y endstop wire, which is identical. Simply separate the wire for the Y endstop from the Y stepper motor wire. * If you use the version with the chain, the cables for the Y endstop and Y stepper motor should pass through the notch at the top of the case. I prefer this location to having it on the left side of the case. * Wire all screw terminals before attaching them to the left side of the case; you'll appreciate it later. Just ensure that the power cable is routed under the "bridge" of the left side of the case. * Save your screws from the original Melzi board, as they are meant to be reused for mounting the board in this case.
