SKR 1.3 AM8 Case
thingiverse
This is a case designed specifically for the SKR 1.3 and Raspberry Pi, intended to be mounted directly onto the AM8. It draws inspiration from another similar design but has been completely reimagined from scratch, resulting in significant differences that warranted its own separate posting. The case allows you to neatly organize your Z-motor, Y-motor, and heat bed wires by routing them through the extrusions and then having them exit within the box for a clean wiring setup. To achieve this, you'll need to drill small holes into the extrusions (don't forget to deburr them afterwards) to run the wires through the frame. Supports are only necessary on the main case to support the overhanging notch for the extrusion bracket. Given that the MOSFET on the SKR is already a high-quality component, there's no need to add space for an external MOSFET, as this board doesn't require it. A cable gland is located at the top of the box, providing a secure and tidy way to exit your X-carriage and Y-carriage wires. Ziptie mounting points are strategically placed near the connectors for the motor wires, ensuring everything remains neatly organized. The case also includes a mounting point specifically designed for powering your RPi with a 5V buck converter, making it easy to keep things running smoothly. You can find this particular model on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GJ0SC2C Additionally, there are pre-drilled holes for a power jack (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJ673ZW) and a switch (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012IJ35VQ), ensuring all your components are easily accessible. There's also plenty of ventilation built into the case to keep your drivers running cool. To maximize airflow, we recommend using this fan: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N9ZQRI7 **It's worth noting that this case is designed with the hardware serial port in mind for both the SKR 1.3 and Raspberry Pi. There simply isn't enough room to accommodate a USB connection on the Pi when the case is closed. A cleaner setup, if you ask us!
