Name: Chess Pieces. Made in a bunker where Jews from Kolomyya hid during World War II. This complete set of chess pieces was made by Pola Najder (1917-97) during World War II, when she and her husband were hiding with eight other people in a bunker in Kolomyya. Since they had no access to paint, all the pieces are the same color. To distinguish between black and white, half of them have been marked with an "X" from underneath.
