Skitter Lizard
cults3d
Creating a charming lizard in Blender was a delightful experience that I had while attending a talk at my local Linux Users Group. Using the skin modifier and manipulating a few vertices allowed me to sketch out its unique shape quickly, which then paved the way for refining the high-resolution model using sculpt mode with dynamic topology. Initially, I attempted manual retopo, but discovered that applying the decimate modifier along with some minor clean-up resulted in a low-poly version that was perfect for printing. A .Blend file containing various iterations on separate layers is included, so feel free to explore and see how the lizard evolved from its initial stages to its final form!
