This file discusses trigger wheels, which sense RPM and crank acceleration fluctuations to map drive variability and miss. They differ from magnetostrictive pickups used in distributors and Hall effect sensors for TDC and reluctor rings with 8 windows for firing order. Trigger wheels come in various configurations; one option is a 24t wheel with bent over teeth, placed two items back to back for two banks to avoid waste sparks. This choice reflects the different possibilities available in managing timing outside mechanical drives, much like how mainframes once came in 24-bit or 32-bit words and later had 60-bit options from a different maker.
