Skin

Human skin wraps around the entire body, serving as its outermost layer. As the largest organ in the integumentary system, humans' skin is comprised of up to seven layers of ectodermal tissue that shield vital muscles, bones, ligaments, and internal organs from potential harm. Human skin bears striking similarities to most other mammals' skin, with a remarkable resemblance to pig skin being particularly notable. While nearly all human skin features hair follicles, it can sometimes appear completely bald. The two primary types of human skin are characterized by the presence or absence of hair: hairy and glabrous (hairless) skin respectively.
