Skimmer Basket

The skimmer baskets in our pool were beginning to perish, with the edges becoming very brittle and easily snapping with minimal force. Looking online it seems that these are quite pricey to replace, at around £20 each. I'm not suggesting it's a lot cheaper to print, after taking the time into consideration, but it seems that there's an opportunity to improve on the original. Therefore, instead of the edges being wafer thin, I've sized them at 2mm, as I've seen others do. The square holes around the edge are 4mm square(ish). Rather than tussle with a square pattern around the bottom, I opted for a concentric circle design. Holes are made around the upper basket to take a handle. After a few attempts, I finally got the right strength for the handle, which acts as both a lifting aid and also a method to twist the basket into the locking mechanism of the skimmer housing below. The rim around the top is designed to snap onto the top of the basket. This adds a lot of rigidity to the final object. It does take some force to snap on, and is probably my favorite part of the design.
