Ski Trailer Kit
thingiverse
These are the brackets and mounts I designed to convert my instep bike trailer into a cross country ski child carrier. The skis used are 110cm youth Cross Country skis. Tow poles made from EMT conduit serve as sturdy handles. I have included both left and right brackets, along with an identical mount that can be duplicated for each side, plus an optional mount template to simplify marking hole locations on the skis before drilling. The mounts attach in a manner similar to standard cross country ski mounts, with numerous YouTube videos available to guide you through this process. Although I feel secure towing my child in this trailer, I am not recommending it as safe for others to tow their children with this setup. Each part is thoroughly inspected prior to and after use to ensure there are no issues present. So far, I have used this trailer three times, covering at least 15 miles without encountering any problems. My bike trailer is rated to carry a maximum of 80 pounds, but the capacity of my ski kit remains unknown. My child weighs approximately 28 pounds. On January 31, 2018, I had already utilized this ski trailer setup about a dozen times that winter and estimated that I had covered around 60 miles. Everything continues to hold up exceptionally well! It's wonderful to be able to ski with my little one.
