Skewer brackets

Skewer brackets

thingiverse

It's that time of year again when we have to create a lantern for the Autumn Moon festival at our kid's school. This year the little one insisted on it being in the shape of a moon cake, but we compromised and settled on an octagon instead of a circle. Now, dad, bring it to life! Let's see what we can do with some extra bamboo BBQ skewers, about 3mm in diameter. We just need some brackets to hold them together. A few minutes with Fusion360 and these are the results we're looking for. The holes in the brackets are actually 3.5mm, so they might need a little glue to keep them in place. Print 16 of the 135 degree brackets for the double octagon ring, and 8 of the 90 degree brackets for the top and bottom cross pieces. Infill at about 20% should work just fine.
