This was my submission for the Sketchfast 7 contest. Trevor from GTA 5 decked out as Freddy Krueger captured the spirit of a dream model come to life. The challenge required creating a favorite game character wearing a spooky Halloween costume and having it ready within 72 hours - just perfect. Unfortunately, I have no love lost for video game characters, so Trevor donning Freddy's menacing suit seemed like an oddball entry to create. To get this model right, I combed the web extensively, searching high-resolution wallpapers and screenshots galore for reference points. My High-Poly version exploded onto 1,200,000 triangles first before baking the normal and ambient occlusion maps onto the Low-Poly model, which flaunted an impressive 8,233 triangles on its sleeve. For those keen to learn the intricacies of baking a map like this, the original Low-Poly model lies in Layer one while its High-Poly doppelganger awaits you on Layer six. I took pains to retain all modifiers from the baking process for those willing to study this complex bake technique more deeply. All maps with diffuse properties have been crafted using Blenders potent Texture Paint Mode without breaking out any external 2D Image editing tools. You'll be impressed at just how simple yet functional my Armature proved itself to be. Catch the model come to life in a short clip over on YouTube - just click here!
