Skelestruder for Prusa i3 MK2

prusaprinters

This is a modification of the Skelestruder for Prusa i3 mk2 which I made because I have that printer and wanted to mount that extruder on it. STEP files for all models provided if you want to modify this further.

Changes:
1) I made the x carriage a bit slimmer (to make it the same width as the original mk2 carriage) and added the endstop lever.
2) I changed the position of the cable holder on the x carriage cover based on where the mk2.5 has it to make the cable clear the MK2's narrower frame. To do that I had to make the part a bit thicker and add an extre nut and bolt but the weight should not be significant.
3) I changed the shape of the cable holder up a bit to allow for better routing of cables.
4) I made the PINDA probe holder hold the probe at the right location for the mk42 heatbed.
5) I made the probe height adjustment knob smaller to accomodate the new probe position

The models that need them have integrated supports that should break off easy enough

Assembly:
Put a standard m3 nut into the hex-shaped hole inside the new x carriage cover. Mount the cable holder to that new hole using an m3x10 bolt.
Break the integrated support off the new x carriage.
Push an m3 bolt through the hole on the probe holder, it should break the integrated support off and reveal a hex-shaped hole. Put an m3 nut into the hole.
The rest is identical to original Skelestruder, just use my parts instead of the original ones. For mounting the x cariage cover to the x carriage, use an m3x25 bolt.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

Prusa Mk2

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Notes:

Supports are integrated where needed.
Use the print settings recommended in JLTX's official build guide.

How I Designed This

The original Skelestruder from JLTX can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2845416

Changelog

26/09/2019 minor changes to SP_Xclamp_MK2 and SP_tail_MK2 to improve printability. All files were reuploaded to force Thingiverse to make new renders as I accidentally deleted the old ones.

22/09/2019 - Added new reworked models (SP_Xclamp_MK2 and SP_tail_MK2) with corresponding STEP files. Also changed the wording of the description and added renderings.

26/08/2019 - Added a new reworked SP_carriage_MK2 part along with the STEP file for the part

22/06/2019 - Updated the probe holder to be more rigid and to make the omega fit better, added a smaller probe adjustment knob that doesn't interfere with the probe, added step files for the new parts.

20/02/2019 - Initial version, the models were modified from Skelestruder STLs with Fusion 360. The probe holder part had some clearance issues, the probe height knob couldn't be turned with the probe inserted, also the omega shroud couldn't really fit right.

Category: 3D Printer Extruders
