Skateboard Bearing Filament Holder
thingiverse
This is my quick, simple and affordable filament holder I designed a while ago! Having achieved flawless performance from it so far, I decided to share it with the community!\nIt uses 4 standard size (22mm outer diameter, 7mm thickness, 8mm center hole) skateboard bearings, which can be purchased very inexpensively on Ebay or salvaged from an old and discarded skateboard destined for the landfill. The bearings should fit snugly into the rollers but once in place will require no adhesive. These bearings enable near flawless and extremely smooth rotation of your filament spool.\nThe bolts I used to secure the rollers to the bases are M8 x 30mm, however shorter ones could also be used and any size bolt can be used for joining the two bases together (holes may need drilling if larger than M5), as this simply adds stability while still allowing for adjustability to fit any size filament spool.\nIf like me you have a slippery desk surface, you may want to attach some adhesive rubber feet to the bases like I did which will ensure that the holder remains stationary during printing.\nAll feedback is welcome. Thanks!\nEDIT: I updated the Base.stl file as I realized that I had uploaded an old version by mistake. The two 5mm holes for the long joining bolts were too close to the rollers and may have caused fitment issues. All fixed now!\nPrint Settings\nPrinter Brand:\n Up!\n \n Printer:\n Up Mini\n \n Rafts:\n Yes\n \n Supports:\n Yes
