Skarn ore

This specimen of skarn ore originates from the Mount Garnet Zn-Cu-Pb skarn located in far north Queensland. Dominated by sphalerite, this sample features a prominent presence of calcite. Finer grained green patches are comprised of a mixture between diopside and hydrogrossular. The same mine also hosts crinoid stems that have been replaced with sphalerite.
