SK-Tank CF Dual 5015s LGX-Dragon Mount
prusaprinters
This is a mount for the Bondtech LGX and Phaetus/TriangleLab Dragon hotend, for the Seckit SK-Tank with the carbon fiber X gantry. It includes support for dual 5015 blowers for part cooling, and mount points for a Z probe. I've included a mount for the Euclid probe.I found that I needed a longer X endstop finger, because this midplate has a shoulder that will hit the XY joiner with the old finger. The longer finger is also better because the LGX puts the nozzle in the center, whereas with the BMG it is offset to the right (+Y direction). The longer finger keeps the zero X position for the nozzle more or less at the edge of the bed.The 5015 fans should be inserted into the midplate sockets from above at the front edge, then rotated back and seated fully. Then they should be attached to the LGX with an M3 screw with some washers in between. The fan duct is sized for the Dragon and because the nozzle is centered, you can just mirror the duct in your slicer to print the second duct. The ducts pop into the midplate below the fan and should stay in place with friction. This design is just for the midplate plus part cooling and Z probe mounts. The actual component to mount the Dragon to the LGX is here, by smnz.EDIT 2023-01-26: Added models and .dxf for a midplate to be CNC machined. I made mine on a MPCNC out of 2mm carbon fiber sheet*. This midplate takes 3D printed ‘shoes’ that accept the bottoms of the 5015 fans, and also includes a fan duct with minor modifications to allow it to fit. It should take the same Z probe mounts as the original. Like the original, the shoes and the fan ducts should be mirrored for the left side. Also, when generating CNC toolpaths, refer to the 3D models for the midplate to see how to recess the 8mm circles in the midplate to allow room for the bottom M3 screw heads behind the fans. I'd recommend recessing them 1.0-1.2mm, leaving 0.8-1.0mm of material between the screw and nut.*The shoes are printed, not machined, so it's really a hybrid design. The shoes slide up onto the midplate from the bottom, into channels designed for 2mm sheet. If you use a different thickness sheet, you'll need to modify the shoes accordingly (.step files provided).
