Siyah for a Turkish-Style Bow
thingiverse
Included is the 3D model output from my slicing software, as well as several source files from which I generated it. This is a very rough initial model that I'm working on for a siyah - the rigid end of a limb - for a Turkish-style bow. I make bows out of PVC, and usually carve the siyahs out of wood, but printing them could be much faster, not to mention lighter, stronger, and more customizable. PLEASE remix this! I think I have it sized right, to about 3.1-3.2 inches long from the middle of the radius to the tip. I'm still trying to figure out how to taper the bottom half to a point and give the bash - the end with the nock - a rounded-triangular cross-section, pinched at the back. I'm going to print a few of these out and give it a shot in a PVC bow, so wish me luck! How I Designed This: Google Sketchup - I traced an image I created; if anyone really wants it, I'll share it. Then, I extruded it to a width of 1/2". That may or may not be perfect, but it's close enough and a good place to start.
