The Geneva drive, often referred to as the Maltese cross, is a unique gear mechanism that converts continuous rotation to intermittent rotary movement. It achieves this by employing a rotating drive wheel with a protruding pin that fits into a slot of the driven wheel, moving it forward step-by-step. Additionally, the drive wheel features a raised circular blocking disc which secures the driven wheel in its position between steps.
