Shiva, revered as Mahadeva ("Great God"), stands at the pinnacle of Shaivism, one of Hinduism's three most prominent denominations in modern times. Within this tradition, he is considered the supreme deity and one of the five fundamental forms of the divine in the Smarta tradition.
