Situs Megalitikum Sarkofagus Ai Renung

The site is one of the Megalithic civilization's legacy areas found in Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. The site is located in Batu Tering Village, Moyohulu Sub-district, about 30 kilometers from Sumbawa Besar City which can be reached by motor vehicle within one hour. It is estimated that the site covers an area of around 30 hectares where there are 8 sarcophagi scattered across five different locations. The sarcophagi here are generally decorated with relief carvings of human faces and bodies as well as reptiles such as crocodiles and lizards. These sarcophagi function as stone tombs for the deceased. The reliefs on the sarcophagi are associated with the social status of the individuals being buried. The condition of the sarcophagi is partially damaged, but they are still used by local residents for certain rituals. This 3D model was created from UAV photo data as part of a collaborative project between Sumbawa Regency Government and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya's Sumbawa 3D ArchaeoProject in 2018.
