Sitting Woman at The Louvre, Paris
cults3d
This young woman sits cross-legged on a stool, clad in a himation and chiton draped elegantly over her breast. This was a fashion trend at the end of the 4th Century BC. Her right arm is wrapped around her face, while her left rests on the seat beside her. Shattered fragments scattered around the sculpture reveal that it would have originally been placed beside a naiskos or small temple, often situated near funerary monuments.
