The conventual buildings of the Saint-Évroult-Notre-Dame-du-Bois Abbey (61) are no longer visible today, yet the subsoil is rich in information regarding this site. Between 2013 and 2017, five archaeological operations allowed for the excavation of the chapter hall of the abbey. This refers to the meeting room of the monks, one of the most important rooms in the abbey. The results of the excavation revealed a continuous occupation of the site from the Merovingian period to the 14th century. We find hollow structures, a trace of primitive occupation, the first stone foundations and numerous tombs. Here is a 3D view of the excavation during the last campaign.
