Glaciar Tapado's surface is home to a unique phenomenon known as penitentes, towering spikes of ice that have been formed by the intense sunlight and low humidity in this region. During the first scan of the glacier, these features stood out as prominent landforms, their sharp peaks stretching up towards the sky like giant shards of glass.
