My second approach for an effortless strainer that's easy to clean, perfect for floor-level shower drains.\r\n\r\nThis time I replaced the standard tube with one of my own design.The new tube combines perfectly with a strainer for siphon function and features a closed bottom with numerous small holes for optimal flow.Because of the spacious room in the strainer, you won't need to clean it often.With the additional handle on top, it's easy to pull out for cleaning in the washbowl without any tools required.\r\n\r\nUse this only in showers that are frequently used (at least once a week).If too much water evaporates in the drain, the siphon function may not work due to the holes and could cause unpleasant odors.In such cases, I would recommend using my other strainer (see link below).\r\n\r\nAlso check out my solution for easily lifting the drainer cover up here\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3719732\r\nand my second strainer to insert at the top of the drain here\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3722059\r\n\r\n________________________________________________________\r\n\r\nUPDATE V2:\r\nAfter a month of testing, my wife pointed out that she was having trouble reaching the bottom with her fingers when cleaning the basket.I reduced the length by 10mm and deleted the first row of cutouts.This adjustment ensures that the cutouts are below the water level in the siphon, allowing the odor trap to function effectively.To compensate for the missing area of the cutouts, I widened the remaining ones by 1mm, resulting in a slightly larger flow area than in V1.
