The final resting place of Sir Walter Mildmay and his wife Lady Mary is located within the ancient walls of St Bartholomew the Great church, a historic London landmark that dates back centuries. This revered couple's legacy lives on through their significant contributions to English history: Sir Walter played a pivotal role as the founder of Emmanuel College in Cambridge, while serving as the trusted Chancellor of the Exchequer to Queen Elizabeth I. Sadly, the passing of Lady Mary in 1576 preceded that of her devoted husband, who breathed his last in 1589.
