SIP Medusa Tank Cap with fuel extender
thingiverse
This filler cap fits a SIP Medusa Ti-1002 Inverter Generator. It allows you to connect an external fuel tank for extended operation. For this to work, the external tank must be level or higher than the built-in fuel tank, and the generator's fuel pump must be in good condition. I printed this part using PC (Polycarbonate), which has withstood petrol well so far. My tests showed that ABS will soften after a few hours. I recommend trying other materials at your own risk. This project is a "do-it-yourself" job, and you should use caution to avoid health risks and fuel spills. To complete the assembly, you'll need the rubber seal from the original filler cap. You can find the Fusion 360 design here: https://a360.co/2Tls30M The thread for the fuel connector is 1/4 NPT. I had to modify the design in Fusion 360 to create a working thread. When installing the fuel connector, heat it up and screw it on carefully - otherwise, it may crack your print. The part number for the fuel connector is Scepter 04068. Update: The external tank does not work reliably if you need to pump out the fuel. The generator's fuel pump becomes weak over time. I plan to try a gravity-fed system once I get a blind tank fitting.
