Sinusoidal Venturi for Flow Measurement

Sinusoidal Venturi for Flow Measurement

thingiverse

This is a venturi tube with a sinusoidal profile, designed for measurement of volumetric flow rate of fluids. Venturi tubes like this have several uses, including calculating flow rate if the diameter of the big hole and the smaller hole are known, along with measuring the pressure difference between upstream flow and the "tap" hole. This part is specifically designed to be inserted into a round pipe or duct. I'm trying to design a low-resistance venturi that doesn't cause a lot of turbulence. For a traditional profile, see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3559666. Customizer uses an older version of OpenSCAD, so I had to work around a problem - see the code if you care. The goal is to create a low-resistance venturi tube that doesn't cause turbulence.
