It was first discovered in 1996 and is notable for being one of the first non-avian dinosaurs to be found with clear evidence of feathers. Sinosauropteryx was about 1.2 meters long and weighed around 1 kilogram. Its feathers were simple and filament-like, resembling those of modern birds.
