Compared to the metal OEM strainer, this version has much smaller holes, preventing smaller food scraps and fish scales from passing through the drain while still allowing for effective water draining. The decision to use this design was driven by the need to prevent clogs caused by the OEM's tendency to let food scraps pass through. Additionally, the OEM has a habit of pressing down on it, blocking the water flow.
