I recently bought a new sink drain, and upon installing it, I discovered that there was a crucial washer missing between the nut and rubber gasket. This vital washer plays a critical role in eliminating excessive torque on the gasket when tightening the nut, thereby preventing leaks altogether. Unbeknownst to many, these specialized washers are not readily available at common box stores like Lowe's or Home Depot.
