I'm excited to share with you the construction of my portable combination table. This versatile tool allows for a table saw, router table, and mitre saw stand that can be easily folded up to maximize space in your shop while remaining highly portable. The tools are interchangeable using a series of plates similar to those used on table saw throat plates. Simply swap out plates to change tools or mount your mitre saw to the tabletop for added stability. The table features an extension arm perfect for handling long pieces on the table saw or supporting lengthy workpieces on the mitre saw. When done, fold it up and stash it away or transport it to a different area of your shop where there's more room to move around. In Part 2 of this video series, I'll guide you through the fence portion of the build. This innovative design utilizes a convenient thumbscrew system to effortlessly control the motion and clamping aspects of the fence. You'll also get a sneak peek at my 3D printed accessories like the vertical featherboard and sliding mitre gauge. Additional 3D printed components include remote battery access and an emergency stop panel for the circular saw – probably my favorite part of this build! To further enhance safety, I've installed a stainless steel table saw splitter to prevent kickback from the saw blade. Finally, we'll put the table through its paces by building a small project box to house a 3D printed container that holds the table hardware. But why did I call it the Sinister Saw? It's because the fence is mounted on the left-hand side of the table saw blade – and in classical Latin, "sinister" means left. I had to mount it on this side due to my Ryobi cordless saw's design, which features a bevel cut bracket that only rotates in one direction. When mounting it under the table, the direction of the blade dictates which side is safest for the fence. I don't want to risk tilting the blade towards the fence and increasing the risk of kickback. This build took a significant amount of time and effort, but I'm happy to make my design files available for free for everyone!
