I decided to create a reliable deck-mounted spool holder for my Lack enclosure's finalisation stages. To prevent the holder from sliding off when removing or fitting the cover, I wanted it securely fixed in place. Additionally, I sought a design that would be easy and quick to operate, so I opted for a single-sided mount with a fast-threading nut and bolt, which is a typical setup. The spool holder itself might be over-engineered, but since I only plan to make one or two of these, I aimed to create something robust enough to withstand use without breaking or bending. The design intends to utilize the standard Anet spool holder shaft and the original kit's provided nuts and washers. A 35mm long (40mm deep blind hole in the model) M8 threaded bar is screwed into the mount's threaded hole, followed by a lock nut and washer tightened against the face to prevent it from unscrewing. The spool bolt then slides onto the threaded bar and is secured with either a nyloc nut or two of the supplied nuts locked together. The spool bolt has been designed to utilize a pair of standard 608 bearings for free-running on the spindle. I've designed the spool bolt and nut to accommodate every spool type I've encountered here, including Prima, Sunlu, Rigidink, and some cheaper examples that I probably wouldn't buy again. The design accommodates spool widths of 55mm-75mm and boss diameters of 52-75mm.
