Single Form in Battersea Park, London

myminifactory

Single Form was created in 1961-4 from a single block of bronze, measuring 21 feet tall (6.4 metres). This imposing sculpture has been situated at multiple locations, with two prominent sites being the United Nations Building in New York and Battersea Park in London. As Hepworth's largest work, Single Form is her most significant public commission to date. She was close friends with Dag Hammarskjöld, Secretary-General of the United Nations, who admired and collected her art, including a sandalwood Single Form from 1937-8 (BH 103). The Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Foundation commissioned Single Form as a memorial to Hammarskjöld after his tragic death in an air crash in 1961. This object is part of the "Scan The World" initiative, which was introduced by MyMiniFactory as a non-profit endeavour. Through this project, we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from around the globe for public access at no cost. Scan The World is an open-source community effort. If you have interesting items nearby that you'd like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to find out how you can help.
