Single-Bay ATSC Digital HD TV Antenna

Single-Bay ATSC Digital HD TV Antenna

I designed this high-definition TV antenna using OpenScad. The SCAD file is also included. This project aims to make available technology like HD TVs to as many people as possible. It's a single-bay UHF digital TV antenna, built on the foundation of Doyt Hoverman's (born 1913) previous work. Simply print this antenna and enjoy over-the-air free HD TV broadcasts. Many countries still broadcast TV signals from the ground. In 2010, those signals were switched to Digital transmissions, but they're still available for viewing without any costs. You'll need a TV with an ATSC digital tuner (either built-in or as a separate device) or a PC with a USB TV tuner like Hauppauge. This antenna is entirely 3D printable! It was designed to require minimal fasteners. The three individual mount brackets in the kit must be printed, and each one requires six long screws plus six nuts and four short screws – that's it! The finished antenna weighs under two pounds assembled. Install it in your attic or a protected area from the wind. Connect it to a TV, PVR, or PC with an ATSC digital tuner, and you have free high-definition TV. Instructions: The OpenScad file provided allows customization for available fasteners. Please look inside the openscad file near the top for details – everything is well explained. This antenna is designed for indoor use, to be installed in your attic or a wind-sheltered area at home. It requires minimal parts, mostly 3D printed ones. Print settings: * ABS for weather resistance * No print supports needed * Infill: 20% * Shells: 2 Layer Height: 0.20mm Print the following parts: 1. HDTV_ATSC_screw_test.stl (to test your fasteners) 3x HDTV_ATSC_mblocks.stl or, 3x HDTV_ATSC_mblocks_sm.stl (for a mast block with either a >1" diameter pole or <1" diameter pole) 3x HDTV_ATSC_wire_block.stl Fasteners required: The pre-built STL files are designed for the following fasteners: * Six (6) 8-32 screws (each 2.5 inches or longer) * Six (6) 8-32 nuts * Fourteen (#4 machine screws, half an inch long) Two (2x) twelve-gauge aluminum drop ceiling wires, each five feet (60 inches) long (available at HomeDepot/Lowes) Customize This project uses the Write.scad text generator and orbitron.dxf font to label many parts.
