Singer Parameterised Fashion Disc

Singer Parameterised Fashion Disc

thingiverse

This is a custom version of the Singer Fashion Discs. With it parameterised, you can create whatever fashion disc suits your needs. I have used Fusion 360 to design the disc, and the Singer_fashion_disc_parameters.csv file contains parameters to use in creating your own discs. The first 19 lines adapt the CAD-file to your printer. The first 18 parameters are filled with a number 0-12 to set the needle sideway position for each stitch. Pos1 is the sideway position of stitch 1, and so on. Position 0 corresponds to placing the needle at far left, while position 12 corresponds to placing it at far right. To load parameters into Fusion 360, you'll need the ParameterIO Add-in. Since all printers behave uniquely, I've introduced a tolerance parameter. Set the tolerance setting according to your printer's specifications. I set mine to 0.2 for correct dimensions on inner diameter and disc teeth height. Calibration: 1. Turn the machine by hand during calibration. 2. Print the default disc using positions 12,0,12,0,etc. 3. Test the disc and check: 3.1 That the disc can be mounted snugly 3.2 That the lowest position doesn't affect the lifting arm but also shouldn't create any gap 3.3 In the highest position, it shouldn't be possible to lift the arm further, nor should it force past its maximum position I've noticed that the needle movement between positions N and N+1 on original discs isn't optimal. The sideway move starts too late and isn't done when the needle is on the top crest. By shifting the disc pattern 2° clockwise, I get perfect timing, making correct orientation essential for mounting. There's a Star on the disc that should face towards you when mounted. Also, printing the disc with the Star facing down toward the heat bed helps avoid potential elephants foot affecting tolerances. Tested and verified on a Singer 319, but might also work with models 306, 238, 240, 248, 258, 316, 320, 338, 348, 360, 418, 477, 478, 514, 518, 538, 818, 838, 1730, and 1800.
