After designing a replica of the original cartridge, I decided to create my own printed circuit board (PCB). Since I still had a stash of 27C128s lying around and they're still available at Aliexpress, I drew up a new board. However, I quickly discovered that a 27C128 is significantly wider than the internal posts in the original cartridge. Instead of redesigning the PCB, I made some modifications to the cartridge. This revised design is easier to print without supports since it doesn't follow the original layout. The outside remains identical to the original cartridge. I'm pleased to note that the original silicone sleeve still fits perfectly, and you can use CA glue to attach both parts together. One of the nicest features of this modified cartridge is access to the ROM from the back. If you don't use a DIP socket, the EPROM will be flush with the back, allowing you to cover it up with a custom sticker. On the other hand, if you do use a socket, you can easily swap out ROMs as needed. I've used a Textool socket in my design, making it simple to switch between test ROMs that don't require a permanent enclosure. I'm considering selling the PCB on Sellmyretro, complete with an EPROM and a few SMD components (address decoder) already soldered on the board. I might even pre-program the EPROM for interested buyers. Unfortunately, the "Ultimate Play The Game" titles are still copyrighted and cannot be distributed. To print this cartridge, simply flip it upside down and follow the same process as before. *UPDATE: You can find PCBs with an EPROM included for sale on www.sellmyretro.com
