Wind got ahold of my patio umbrella and broke two of the struts at the hinge point. Rather than trash the whole thing, I designed these sleeve braces to slip over the end of the strut and attach at the hinge. Hinge rivet is drilled out and two additional holes are drilled, one on either side of the pivot. I used 1/4" bolts with washers and lock nuts to attach everything. A metric M6 should be similar. The struts measure 1/2" (14.8mm) x 3/4" (20.7mm) roughly.
