Simplified Venus Box
thingiverse
I tried using the original Venus Box but the files were too large to handle in a modeling program when I attempted to reorganize them. The total file size for one model was an enormous 134mb, encompassing all the parts. I broke down each part and reduced its individual file size. The modified models retained their original appearance. The combined memory usage for the minimized parts came in at just over 3mb. Next, I rearranged the pieces to facilitate simultaneous printing on a square build plate, given my printer's specifications. For optimal results within my printers' build volume, I had to scale down the model by 83%. After printing it with a .3mm layer height and smaller resolution, the Venus Box functioned perfectly despite these adjustments.
