Simplified Model Radial Engine
thingiverse
Hi All, I'm excited to share with you a highly detailed 8-cylinder radial engine that I designed and built. This simplified version is intended to demonstrate the fundamental mechanics behind these classic engines, which were once used in older airplanes. It's also a fun geometry toy that lets you explore how these engines worked. I printed mine at 75% scale, as shown in my videos, because I didn't feel the need for the full-size model. However, I'm confident that this design would work just as well from 50% to 150% scale, although I haven't personally tested it yet. Here's a list of the parts needed: 1. Radial engine block 2. Eight piston rods 3. Eight piston heads 4. One piston plate 5. One piston plate side (second one) 6. One gear 7. One flywheel 8. One flywheel side (second one) 9. One top plate If you're interested in more simplified model engines, be sure to check out my other creations, such as the massive model V8 engine. https://youtu.be/oBQBioHzF20
