Simplified Face Shield - by STEAM FUN
thingiverse
This is a remix of the popular Brazil HeadBand face shield frame on PRUSA (https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/27623-headband-brasil-v3). The original design takes nearly two hours to print. We eliminated the front beam to save some time. This modification was also partially inspired by Apple's minimalist face shield design, which has one beam instead of two like the Brazil Headband. This shield frame can be printed in under an hour. With recommended settings, it consumes about 5.5 meters of filament (compared to the original 8.37m). This allows us to produce approximately sixty such shields from a 1KG spool of filament (instead of fewer than forty with the original design). Its small profile makes it easy to print on a printer with a small build volume, or to place two frames on one bed to reduce printing overhead. We are a small maker space located in the Bay Area (STEAM FUN https://www.steamfun.us). Our space is closed due to the shelter-in-place order but we're using our 3D printers to produce face shields with community help. So far, we've donated them to hospitals, grocery stores and local food banks.
