Simplified Duplo tracks
thingiverse
I am working on a new project in OpenSCAD, my first ever. The tracks were designed entirely from scratch with the goal of reducing print time and enhancing the bottom surface to prevent delamination between ABS and the hotbed. One attempt was made to print a straight track, but it failed due to printer malfunction, so I will make another try next week. Note: You need OpenSCAD 2016 to modify or render the curved track, as 2015 lacks an angle parameter in rotate_extrude. On March 9th, 2016, all files were updated. The old curved track was not printable, but I have successfully printed multiple copies of both rails that connect smoothly with each other and the original Duplo. By March 18th, 2016, I had increased the width: the distance between rails from 27 to 28 mm, rail thickness from 1.5 to 2 mm due to my daughter breaking one 1.5 mm rail, and track width from 7 to 9 mm because one wheel could fall off from the old version of the straight track. I apologize for not having enough time for testing, but I'm counting on my children to report any bugs they find.
