Simplest softmount ever
thingiverse
I was determined to minimize motor noise within the frame, experimenting with various softmounting techniques. Suddenly, a question arose: what exactly do we require for effective softmounting? It became clear that the ring spacers between the motor and frame, as well as between the screw and frame, are all we need for optimal damping. To achieve this, I simply printed 32 tiny rings in flexible TPU. Then, I placed one on each screw before inserting it into the frame and another on the opposite side to protect the frame from two sides. Next, I positioned the motor on top of them and screwed it down. Remember to avoid using excessive force, as some room is necessary for the damping effect. I recommend utilizing 10mm long M3 screws for this purpose. Japim's suggestion to apply thread locker to ensure the screws remain in place is also a good idea. This soft mount has proven to be both the lightest and most effective one I've ever used, and I hope it will have the same impact on you.
