Simple Yacht Vent
grabcad
This is my entry to the Saare Yacht Vent competition. The idea is that a blow-molded plunger has a modified screw-type track molded into it, into which fit two studs on a PVC race. Three-quarters of a turn of the attached handle move the plunger from the opened to the closed position. The injection-molded PVC race is corrosion-resistant and easy to manufacture and clean. I envision the vent covers being made from brass, but they could also be PVC or stainless steel. The track which guides the plunger currently allows three positions- open, half-open (or half-closed, depending on your outlook on life), and closed, but this could easily be altered to allow more positions.
