Simple toroid winding wire holder
thingiverse
Simple parametric design to hold wire for easy winding of a toroid. The end cutouts are set back by the same amount as the width, so the default version is 30mm long and 5mm wide (for a 6mm toroid hole), allowing one complete wrap of wire to be held at 2*(L-(W*2)) = 40mm per wrap. One turn on my particular Toroid measures approximately 16mm, rounded up, with two segments (5.33mm + 2.33mm) combined. To wrap 100 turns, I need 1600mm of wire or 40 turns on the spool. Now simplified to require only the amount of wire desired for one complete turn on the spool, taking into account the spool thickness as well. My first customizer job is to test how it works.. The customizer appears to be broken, so you will need to have OpenSCAD (Get it anyway!). I will upload different sizes in any case. Format: wire_length_per_turn,spool_width,spool_thickness. For 1600mm of wire (100 turns) on my 6mm ID toroid, I require the 50_5_1 version and do 32 turns of wire, or the 100_5_2 version and do 16 turns, as my wire is thin so the short version will suffice. Photos show 32 wraps on the spool for 1.6m wire and then what remains after wrapping 100 turns.
